Some people even experience PTSD from bullying.

LONG TERM EFFECTS OF BULLYING

•TROUBLE WITH HEALTHY INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
•DEPRESSION
•POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
PTSD develops as a result of being exposed to something traumatic and shocking. PTSD can occur if the bullying behavior was severe enough for the individual to feel completely out of control or as if their lives were in danger. Unwanted memories of the event, flashbacks, avoidant tendencies, feeling hopeless, and physical symptoms such as insomnia or difficulty concentrating are all symptoms of PTSD.
Many bullied people feel trapped and unable to escape their bullies' fear. When there are power dynamics at work, this feeling frequently worsens. Each situation is unique, and feeling trapped in a terrible situation with no apparent way out can lead to depression. People suffering from depression are more likely to withdraw from others, feel hopeless and sad, and consider suicide. Depression is a serious condition that is characterized by a persistent low mood with negative thinking that has lasted for more than two weeks. A person's behavior is likely to change as well, making it difficult for them to function normally.
Bullying can cause people to build walls around themselves. These barriers can be so strong that they alienate people who could actually make a difference in the person's life. This bullying effect speaks to the significant emotional wounds that are frequently inflicted as a result of mistreatment. On a conscious level, someone may recognize that not everyone is a bully, however, they may also believe that the risk of opening up to others isn't worth it. Bullying is also associated with trust issues and difficulties in maintaining healthy friendships and relationships.
OVERCOMING BULLYING'S LONG TERM EFFECTS
•Don't beat yourself up for feeling badly
•Take immediate actions
•Have the right support system
Allowing yourself to process the emotions that come with being bullied is critical to combating its long-term effects. It is preferable to process your emotions rather than ignore or suppress them. It is normal to experience feelings of anger, sadness, frustration, or anything else. Nobody likes being mocked, picked on, or otherwise mistreated by others. The severity of the bullying, as well as the environment and other factors, can all have an impact on how you feel. Allow yourself as much time as you need to feel what you need to feel, and don't let anyone make you doubt yourself.
Having supportive people in your corner ensures that you are not alone as you work through a bullying experience. A supportive person can lift you up, encourage you, and provide you with something positive to focus on. If you're not sure how to deal with the bully in your life, the people in your support system can give you some pointers. Different situations necessitate different outcomes, but you should never tolerate bullying of any kind. Taking on a problem of this magnitude may be easier if you have people you can rely on.
If you find yourself in a situation with a bully, you should always report the incident to the appropriate higher-ups. Dealing with bullying as soon as possible is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself from its long-term effects. Bullying that lasts for an extended period of time is generally more harmful. Making notes and keeping documentation is also a good idea. Furthermore, if you have witnesses who can vouch for you and support your claims, you may be able to ensure that the bully is dealt with properly by the appropriate people.

•Take care of yourself
•Don't keep your anger inside
•Try to remove the source
Depending on the type of bully you're dealing with, simply removing them from your life may be a viable option. If you are in a relationship with someone who is bullying you, you may want to consider ending the relationship. You deserve to be with someone who respects you and looks out for your best interests. If you are being bullied online, you may want to consider blocking their accounts. To be sure, there are times when removing the bully from your life is neither feasible nor simple. However, if this is something you are capable of, it is another way you may be able to overcome the long-term, negative effects t
Bullying's negative effects can be exacerbated when the person being bullied is already dealing with other issues or traumas. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle makes a difference. Taking a recreational class, engaging in hobbies, and practicing self-care are all important ways to improve your mental and physical health. Eating nutritious meals, getting enough sleep, and exercising on a regular basis all contribute to having a clearer mind when faced with challenges. A healthy lifestyle does not guarantee that you will never encounter a bully, but it does increase your chances of being in a stronger mental and emotional state to move on from the experience.
As previously stated, it is natural to experience a whirlwind of emotions when confronted with a bully. However, holding onto anger can lead to further harm. While it may temporarily make you feel better, holding onto anger has a negative impact on your well-being and serves no purpose. It's okay to be angry, but finding a healthy outlet for that anger is critical. This outlet may include meditating, working out at the gym, or engaging in an artistic activity such as painting or drawing. Healthy outlets can help transform anger from a potentially toxic emotion to a useful source of fuel.
